While we may become interested in horse color and horse color genetics for a variety of reasons, most of those reasons originate with a love of horses. Some of us are breeders and want to concentrate our program on certain colors. Some own horses and want to learn how they got the colors that they have. Others dream of horses from afar and simply want to learn as much about them as they can. Above all we are all bound together by a love of horses and the rainbow of colors they can produce.

While at first glance color genetics can seem a daunting subject as with anything it gets easier to understand with association and practice. Here at equine-color.info we strive to provide a friendly understanding environment to make learning easier. If you have a question that is not answered in the articles please don't be afraid to post to the forum. Several of our regular posters are actively involved in the field of equine color genetics and are happy to be of assistance. Other members have studied color genetics for years and while they may not be geneticists themselves are certainly qualified to answer all but the most technical of questions.
